Remember when I said I was starting a weekly feature, many weeks ago now, and failed to repeat it more than once? Me too. But I’m back – and before you think it, yes I know it says ‘Friday Finds’ and I published on a Saturday but I wrote it on a Friday, and we can’t all be scheduling Queens.

Now, instead of a playlist, I’m just going to whittle through the best of New Music Friday because oh boy were there some good songs out this week!

Let’s start with Crown, by Stormzy. His second album is going to be incredible, and don’t get me started on how excited I am for him to headline Friday night of Glasto. He performed the new single on this week’s Graham Norton Show, with a choir, and I got full body goosebumps.

Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello joined forces for Señorita. Now, I don’t think the song is as good as their last collaboration, I Know What You Did Last Summer (a true bop on my 2016 playlist). However, the video is less dodgy travelator, more saucy sexiness, leaving the entire internet thinking they’re together. If they aren’t, they should be.

Phone Down by Stefflon Don, featuring Lil Baby, is kinda summery, and I imagine it will be everywhere very soon. I also feel this way about MEGATRON by Nicki Minaj, which I kind of like despite generally not liking Nicki Minaj.

I’m not subtle about hating Taylor Swift. I did, however, stop doing my actual job so I could watch the star-studded You Need To Calm Down video earlier this week. Don’t like her, do like the message (and all things that feature the Fab 5).

I think I might like Panini by Lil Nas X more than I liked Old Town Road. I know for certain I want his songs to be longer.

Mark Ronson released Late Night Feelings, with features from Miley Cyrus, Camila Cabello, King Princess, Lykke Li, YEBBA, Alicia Keys, Angel Olsen, Ilsey and Diana Gordon. The songs he released as singles are definitely the strongest on the album, including the latest single Pieces of Us – the King Princess collab.

All the Time is the next single from Zara Larsson, and honestly, the album is going to be so good. I feel like she’s kind of underrated and she deserves a lot more attention than she gets.

Best for last? Maybe. BTS are doing all of these insane collaborations, and this week’s is with Juice WRLD. I do not understand most of All Night but it is a good song, just like all of the other collabs (still think about the Boy With Luv choreography every day). Kind of a fan now.

Those are all my fave new releases! I think this format works better, and is a lot easier than listening to all the new releases and creating a playlist so here’s hoping I do this again next week, and the week after that…
